| Ko Samet | I've never been to Koh Samet! Posted: Wed September 7, 2005 12:17 PM UTC
I love Thailand, have spent a long time on Koh Phangan and travelled up to the north. I'm going to Thailand in February, on my own. I was thinking of Koh Samet. Is it a good place for chilling, and the weather in February...? Also, is two weeks too long to spend there? Is it the kind of place you can go on your own and meet people? Help! I really want a relaxing beachy time, but am quite scared as this is my first time travelling alone.

Don't be scared. I have traveled all over the world alone.
Koh Samet is nice. Personally, I would be quite bored after 2 weeks. In fact, I was bored after 5 days. It is easy to chill out there. It is possible to meet people. It has the typical little restaurants showing movies, etc. However, it isn't exactly as popular (in terms of the party scene) as Koh Samui or Pha Ngan, or Phuket.

Thank you....I'm tempted to book something online before I arrive, but I've never done that in Thailand before so it's probably not necessary. Any suggestions for good places to go? I think I will spend a few days in Samet and then move to Chang (or the other way around).
