I'm considering visiting Tavira at New Year and would like to know what the weather is like at that time of year and if the bars have big parties or if everything closes at New Year?

We went early January on 2004 to Tavira and were very lucky as most of the days the temperatures were over 16 C and sunny.
I do not know about NYE but we were thinking about Algarve for that time so I would love ot know from others about it.

New year in the Algarve is always big so the bars and clubs will have big parties going on.In Tavira try Ubi which is a nice club.I always try to celebrate tyhe new year in the town of Albufeira its amazing there:-)

Last year the sky was deep blue the whole of the week from Dec27 to Jan3 - not a cloud in sight. Temperature was around 16C which is like late March, early April in the UK.
New Years Eve the sky was full of fireworks, but there is not much else, unless you find a party to go to at a club, hotel, or friends houses. If you want a riotous time try west of Faro, not east.
