I shall be in Tiranë from 10 to 12 September, can anyone recommend any good bars, restaurants and cafés there?
Also, does anyone know how to find out about opera/ballet/folk singing/dancing performances in Tiranë? Thanks! Richard |

there is a part of tirana called "the blok" where you have dozens of fancy restaurants and cafes.
it's in the part of town that used to be the head quarters of the communist party.

If you walk down Rruga Deshmoret e 4 Shkurtit, you'll see a number of bars, etc. A good spot for breakfast is at Qendra Stefan (also a fairly good place to stay). The people there speak good English and would probably know what's happening in town. If you're looking for some finer dining, I had an excellent meal at Villa Ambassador on Rruga Themistokli Germenji. www.aths-travel.com might be of help as well.

Yes, 'Bllok' area is the place to go, try 'Charle's bistro'.
A really nice restaurant is 'OA KLUB', a lovely place, a bit hard to find, in street 'Siri Kodra', next to Hotel Alpin. In the days you will be in Tirana, the Biennale of Art will start. I think they will start to exhibit the works at Villa Goldi, I'm not sure, anyway you can find all the information at the National Gallery of Arts on blvd. 'Deshmoret e Kombit'.
