We arrive on Santa Catalina Island, Tuesday, October 18, 2005 celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary. We arrive at 8:00AM and depart at 5:00PM. What are the "must see's" on Santa Catalina Island .

Hi,
Welcome to California~~My husband and I took a half-day tour inland on the island which traveled some beautiful green, hilly areas, ending up at the airport for a lunch stop, and than back down to Avalon. The island's fascinating history was covered, and you got a lot of detailed info on wildlife, natural trees and plants, etc. The bus trip was neat; in many places, the trees grow over the narrow roads, and we saw buffalo, which we liked. It was a nice change from the usual touristy, high-pressure shopping jazz you see in the town, and I was able to get some great pictures and video as well. If it's your anniversary, you should have a romantic lunch near the water. When you get off the boat in Catalina, it's easy to find visitor information booths all over the place. The atmosphere there is low-key, restful, and friendly, and on a Tuesday in October, the place won't be mobbed by people, so you should have a wonderful time. Congratulations on your anniversary!

Hey, I did a little research and got a very well-thought-of place to dine for you~~According to locals, it's supposed to be one of the best places in town: Steve's Steakhouse. Steve himself greets you when you go in, and the food is outstanding, as well as the service. They say to make reservations, and ask for a window table. The view is spectacular and romantic, just what you want for an anniversary. It's at 417 Crescent Ave., and the phone is 310-510-0333
So, Good Luck, kids!

I agree that taking some sort of tour that gets you away from Avalon (I'm guessing that is where you are going on Catalina) for awhile is a good idea. The island is very different away from the main tourist area. Plus you get beautiful views the higher up the hills you get. If you like old buildings and a bit of history you might try the casino tour. I enjoyed that.
Catalina is beautiful have a wonderful anniversary!
