I am arriving next May by ferry from Cyprus. I plan to ren ta car in Haifa the address of the renatal place is 84 Hahistradut Blv. Is this close to port -- walking distance or do I have to use a taxi.

WOW, Israel <=> Cypruse line once again works ?

Sorry i cant help much, i dont know Haifa well so others will be a better help.
I tried to check it via some website and it seems that you'll need to use a taxi although it doesnt seem that far from the port.

Can you enrich us with a bit more details about the Ferry from Cyprus to Haifa ?
I didnt even know it has started to work again, thats another good sign to the changes in the area i guess.

Apparantly it runs every Wednesday at 8 pm. May through August from Limassol. It is not a car ferry it is a thing called a Cat. The Journey is 12 hours.

I did not check out the costs as it was so far in advance of my travel. The email to me said that im March or so they will , hopefully, start the service again. When i first arrived in Israel 28 years ago, I came by ferry, It was the the most exciting thing I had ever done.

I see Avi has already answered your question. You can take a bus from the port to Hahistadrut Blvd. Anyway, you can look up addresses and maps in Israel by going to: http://www.emap.co.il/eng_index.asp. This is the English version of the dynamic map.
