Hi .can someone tell me how far away is Satun from Phuket please. and what woudl it cost to catch a taxi there? Thanks

HI! Satun is on the mainland, one of the border towns between Thailand and Malaysia. It's really far south and quite some distance from Phuket. By land, you will have to go past Krabi, Trang and Hat Yai to get there. I have no other advices except for this geographical bit.

thanks for that reply... we were told Krabi is much nicer then Phuket....we are still planning so we will keep looking..... can you tell me if it is cheaper then Malaysia for food ect?

It's always cheaper for food in Thailand....if you want to know more about Krabi, do drop by my bro's page on Krabi (he's in the top 5). The link to my brother's page is on my VT homepage.

Vicky, I think Satun is about 4 hours' drive from Phuket.

Food is very cheap in Thailand. You will usually only pay about $1-$2 per dish at local restaurants. Tourist type places are more expensive, but still cheap.
