| Harbin | Harbin in January 2006 - City transportation Posted: Wed August 24, 2005 06:51 PM UTC
Hello,
My wife and I are planning to go to Harbin the 3rd week in January 2006 to see Ice Festival and sight of ciy. Since, it is dead winter I am wondering what kind of transport is available to get around in the city? Sorry, for the silly question, but I live in Texas and not a winter person. Thank you, Barry |

average temperature in Harbin in Jan is about -18 Centigrade, of course very cold, but not that cold to make the transport difficult. Bus, Taxi avialible for you, don't worrying about the transport at all.

Hi,I am a native boy.
I think, the average temperature in Jan is usually as low as -20C.But we have radiators inside the house that make you feel warmer,I am sure. You can go to anywhere you want by taxi or bus with air conditioner.Very convenient. By the way,the opening ceremony of Ice and Snow Festival is usually on Jan.5th.For more info in details, please e-mail me at rupertlee@163.com,I will try to help you.

Man, don't worry about that. Taxi can take you to any corner of the city.

barry, it is not at all a silly question. Actually, transportation is an issue in Harbin. See my external page:
http://www.nextjourney.org/China/China1.html where I describe some of my adventures. Remember that Chinese maps don't show all the streets: what looks like three blocks away may be ten blocks away. But I LOVED Harbin, and you will too.

Thank you Calcaf38. Unfortunately, we are delaying our trip until next fall and will not be able to make it to Harbin.
