Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
El Salvador Perquin and El Mozote
Posted: Wed August 24, 2005 06:34 PM UTC
Hi all,
My wife and I will be in El Salvador toward the end of Sept. We would like to go to Perquin and El Mozote. Is it possible to do this trip in a day, leaving from and returning to San Miguel? Is it best to take a bus or try to get a taxi to take you? Also, any recommendations on hotels in San Miguel (about $50 a night)?
Thanks.

I was just in Perquin (3 weeks ago) and enjoyed the place a lot. As far as your question goes, yes it is possible to make the trip in one day. I made it on one day going from San Salvador to perquin and back. There's a bus that takes you straight from San miguel to perquin which costs $1.50 one way. I forgot the bus number but I rode it on the way back to San Salvador from perquin. The bus will obviously take longer than the cab but you can't beat the price. You can catch the bus at the only bus terminal in San Miguel which anyone there can point you towards.
El mozote is about seven kilometers (4.5 miles) from perquin and you can take a cab there for $5 bucks or less.
I am not very familiar with San Miguel but I am sure you would find your pick of hotels there for less than that.

Hope that helps,

Thanks me109cito/celticbhoy07 for the information.
We will be leaving next week. Have you taken a bus from San Miguel to Managua?
We're thinking about flying one way San Salvador/Managua and taking the bus the other way. Doesn't really matter which order. I saw tickets for COPA for about $130, does this sound about right? And is it possible to get this price just purchasing at the counter a few days before flying?
thanks,
David
