We are headed to Cork next week but I would like to stop part way to spend one night (my birthday!) in the Kilkenny area. I would like to stay in a country house type place or perhaps a farmhouse, preferably someplace that does really nice meals (or isn't too far from a good restaurant). Any ideas? I have found a few places but they are either really expensive (we would prefer not to spend more than EUR50 each) or they require a minimum 2 nights.

Hello, Kilkenny is a very nice and upscale part of Ireland. I stayed in Kilkenny and loved it. They have a great wool outlet store there too. I went to a tourist office and got a room in a nearby castle for about 60 Euros.

Kilkenny town would be great.
Thomastown is quite picturesque too.
