| Salerno | any recommendations to stay at salerno? Posted: Mon August 15, 2005 09:19 AM UTC
hey,
we're going from sicily up as far as rome and we were thinking of staying somewhere near naples for a few days and using this as a base to travel around the region. i have heard bad things about naples was just wondering if salerno would be a good place to stay over a night or 2 and travel to pompeii/ vesuvius /herculaneum/ salerno beach (ww2).or does anyone have any other ideas of where would be good to stay around here. we are students aswell, so accommodation would hopefully be cheap. Thanks for any help you can give. go raibh maith agaibh, man from ireland. |

Hi,
don't miss the beautiful Amalfi coast with Amalfi, Ravello and Positano. But I would not recommend to stay overnight in these villages as they are rather expensive. Maybe you'll find a small hotel in or around around Salerno. I think it would be the best place for your ideas of trips. Have fun! Christian

Hi!
Actually I don't know. It was an organized trip, so there was no work for me ;) Just checked by google and found this one: http://www.youth-hostel.co.uk/hostels/italy.asp There is one in Salerno, which seems pretty cheap. If there is no space available, they maybe can help you with some other address.... Christian.

Hi again,
I was wondering that I didn't find an official list of youth hostels in Italy. So I couldn't stop searching... by checking the german youth hostel page I followed links and found the italian one: http://www.ostellionline.org/ I don't know if theses hostels are the same than in the other list, but it should be easy to find out for you... :) Happy travelling! Christian.
