Kilimanjaro Region Visa

Will I need a visa to travel to Kilimanjaro from the UK with a British passport? There doesn't seem to be any metion of it on the trek sales websites, so I wanted to check...just in case I missed the small print.

Thanks

You won't need one since the Commonwealth countries citizens don't need a visa to enter Tanzania.

I don't know about the visa for British passport holders, but we had to have a yellow fever vaccination (and proof of it) to enter Tanzania.

Yes, that is what is listed everywhere, but they didn't bother to check ours. But still make sure you have it, just in case. Maybe it's cuz I crossed the border by land from Kenya to Tanzania ...

Yes, you will. All UK passport holders need one, available at Kilimanjaro airport for USD50.00 (in Nov. 04).

Ah...ok, is it possible to get visas in advance or do you have to queue up at the airport?

My advice is get it before you go, thats what I did. Kili airport is nothing more than a glorified bungalow so the queues were big and a couple of people were getting ripped off on the price. You can get an application form from the Tanzanian High Comission website or go round there in person if you are London based. You def need the yellow fever certificate and dont leave it too late to get the rest of the vaccinations either, as they need to all be administered at least 10 days before you arrive.

Thanks for this...I'll get onto it now. I didn't fancy queueing at the airport to be honest. I hate waiting and don't want to waste my holiday waiting in a queue.
