I'll be spending the first few days of my honeymoon on Hilo. Is Castle Hilo Hawaiian Hotel a good hotel and location?

Also, is it really noisy as it's beside the airport? What's around the hotel?

i lived in hilo for 10 years..[the castle part confused me] there are only 3 main hotels..i would say its 1 of the nicest...location is gorgeous..even if your room does not have a view of the bay..just walk outside & around the corner & look up you will see MAUNA KEA[ MONNA KAY A]THE 14,000 FT MOUNTAIN.take you umbrella it rains ...alot..have fun ..& try the local food !!

your close to the airport..but it's a very small airport..also there are no flights after 8:30 pm.so it's relatively quiet.if you have a rental car..you
can park @ the hotel for free..unless they have changed that policy..which i doubt.we still have a house in mnt.view..about 20 miles up slope..12 miles from the volcano..don't miss the volcano national park..it's awesome !! if your up for it ..take the helicopter tour..from hilo airport..BUT ONLY TAKE"BLUE HAWAIIAN HELICOPTERS"...BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BEST!!I WORKED @ THE REGIS HAIR SALON IN THE SMALL MALL WE HAVE THERE..stop in & say aloha to paulette or sharyl.[ for me]..if you have any ?? feel free to ask..or you can e-mail me @....mebeep492000@yahoo.com....aloha ps ..you said on hilo..it's actually in hilo.....hilo is on the big island..which is actually the island of hawaii..people get confused between the names of the towns & the name of the islands..so there are 5 main islands hawaii[big island] oahu[thats where honolulu is]maui[where all the gorgeous beaches are] & kauai[ where they film "lost" the tv program... have fun...the hairnazi

also wanted to tell you ..hilo is beautiful but not alot to do..you need a car!! plus you may just want to drive to the other side of the island to "kona" so you can "snorkel"....beatiful water !!

I think you will find that the hotels in Hilo in general are average or below, if you have to stay in HIlo try the B&B's in either Hilo or Volcano!!
