Yes, in German it could be Sund-by-berg :) Otherwise, Matz' suggestions are good too and indeed in my Stockholm family we just call it Sumpan.

the pronounciation given for Sundbyberg is fine but I find it not nice to call it Sumpan or similar - it is disparaging and I found it offensive when I lived there. So if you want to make sure that you do not offend anyone, then use its correct name. Stockholmers may know when it is appropriate (or not) to use the "Sumpan" term but even then they sometimes get it wrong.

I agree - no one I know says anything but Sumpan. Nice or not. Never heard anyone offended by it even if it is an ugly nickname. It's more affectionate in my eyes.
