Bubble Gum Alley is a walkway between two buildings in the center of San Luis Obispo, off Higuera Street. I have placed a few pieces of gum on the walls myself. Sticky job. lol. You can see it all at website: http://www.locallinks.com/bubblegum_alley.htm

Hard to find little pieces of dirt left on the coast, but SLO is a great area, year round. Make sure you go to a Thursday night Farmers Market on Higeura. It will put down any Farmers Market in California.

Good for you Giampiero. I am sipping a Justin 2003 Paso Syrah, a winery located in Paso Robles, nearby to SLO. Salute!

Thanks for the info! I'll check it out in a sec. It's always sad to see places of this sort - homegrown, spontaneous, non-official places - go by the wayside. Speaking of which... ever heard of, or been to, the Albany Bulb?

The San Simeon earthquake in December of 2004 is the culprit here. The buildings whose walls make up Bubble Gum Alley are not safe in an earthquake. The owners MUST retrofit and in most cases find that rebuilding is more economically reasonable than retrofitting. The architect was shown on local TV stating that they plan to retain the flavor (?) of the area and the new walls will expect to have bubble gum placed on them as well. The pedestrian walkway will be maintained. We'll be sad to see our grandson's gum disappear with all the others.

We moved to this little piece of Paradise 18 years ago.

I heard the owners are going to scrape off the gum, rechew it, and stick it back up within a week of completion to help keep the flavor of the alley. ;-)

Hi all. thanks for all the replies.

I just visited SLO in February and checked out the alley. Now that I've seen it again, it may not be a bad idea... it was a lot greyer and grosser than I remember it! Still, it's pretty unique and everyone coming to SLO should check it out.
