Iam from Banagalore india, got an offer from Indian software company to work at DURBAN south africa,

could you Please guide me , what is the cost of living for a normal life.

I donot expect luxury life, Indian company pays me in terms of American dollar $3000(tax free amount) plus company accomudation .
if i convert that US $3000 to south african Rand it comes to 19500 Rand , is this 19500 is a good salary package at south africa.

If i prepare a food at home how much can i save in terms of South african rand. How is security at durban and public transportation.

I assume that is per month. If you don't have to pay for housing you can have a ball with R19 000. I read an ariticle in our Sunday newspaper recently where they looked into salaries. They started at people earning about a R 1 000 a month and stopped at R18 300. Why I'm adding this is it gave me the idea that people earning more than that are in the minority by far. You will be able to live comfortably. Eating out is relatively expensive so you will save by cooking for yourself. Most people do that. Weekends are for take aways and eating out but during the week most people eat at home. If you are alone Woolworths is great for prepared meals that just needs warming up.

You cn easily lead a comfortable middle class lifestyle, as cost of living in Durbs is not that expensive.
Apts are not super expensive.
Food is bit expensive
You will need a car to get around, as public transport is not the safest-ineffect crime is an issue in whole of SA.
But u will enjoy nice weather & beaches!
