All I know is it takes 12 hours but I don't know what time it leaves Kapang? Anyone has any info on this?

I am planning to visit Dili the next time I go to Bali probably using the route through Kupang. You can fly directly from Denpasar to Dili with Merpati, but I have heard that this is quite expensive, because there is little competition on the route. The same applies to the other flight route to Dili (from Darwin with Air North). Therefore it is cheaper to fly from Bali (or Darwin) to Kupang in West Timor and then travel overland to Dili instead. As far as I know there are daily airconditioned buses from Kupang to Dili (Timor Travel and Leste Oeste). The trip takes 12 hours. The cost is something like $18. The trip can also be done with local transport. This alternative would involve first a bus ride to Atambua (7 hours), then a taxi or bus ride to the border (around one hour) and then another bus ride to Dili (3 hours). I have not been able to find any bus schedules on the Internet. Probably somebody local in Kupang would know these. I believe that the buses leave early in the morning, because the border closes at 5 PM, so you have to get there before that.

I already had those info but thanks anyway. The only thing that is missing is the bus schedule. But I'll keep searching.

u mean bus or travel bus? the travel bus leaving kupang is at 8.00am, and arrived in Dili at 7.00pm East Timor time.
so they will pick u up wherever u stay, in hotel or in ur friend's house, they will pick u up at 7.am.
