Hi there!
Which is cheaper way to come from Patras to Piraeus? Is there any other web site for timetables and prices exept www.ktel.org and www.ose.gr (also for ferries)?

Thanks in advance

There is a train from Athens to Patras for 5 Euro. The journey takes 4 hrs. You will need to take the metro from Piraeus to Athens (15 minutes or so), and get off at Larissa. The train station to Patras is a block away from Larissa. Standing on the crossover pedestrian bridge, you can see it on the other side of the street.

Oh, I'm sorry, I read it wrong. You want to go from Patras to Piraeus, not the other way around. However, it would be the same train and same price from Patras to Athens, then you would take the metro to Piraeus.

The train station in Patras is about a block from the port, it's very easy to find.

Thanks a lot! Do you think it's possible to get a ticket for deck on ferry for Naxos without booking, and how much earlier do we have to buy a ticket in that option? Shall hour-two before be enough? We are travelling on 10. August.

We just came back from an impromptu trip. We had nothing reserved, not the ferry, not the airfare, not the train, not the hotel. We didn't even know where we would go the next day, or how long we would like to stay. We had absolutely no problem getting tickets on all the ferries and train, tickets for one flight on Olympic Airways, and all the hotels in various islands. All of the tickets for ferries were deck tickets, and we bought them for the very next ferry out, meaning between 15 minutes to 4 hours ahead.

because you're traveling on one of the highest traffic days of the year, it might be to your advantage to get your ticket in advance (the day before, for example). When you get to Naxos, go ahead and get your next ferry ticket, if you know when/where it will be for.

:-) have a great trip!! xaroula.
