Mine dropped this week, too, despite some good traffic last week to my pages and more ratings than usual. I also updated some pages and built some new tips. I guess either someone else did more or this is the system catching up to me? I never did belong in the Top 1000! haha

I also dropped from 187 to 318 this week...despite about 150 ratings I got last week...I guess that's just a mistake/error...hope they will fix it.
The worst case is matcrazy1 though...he is one of the best as far as pages/ratings etc and look where he is...he dropped back from the top by mistake...

I dropped 100 points even though I seemed to get more ratings than usual this week - guess there must just be VTers doing a lot better than I am, which is fair enough.

Same thing has happened to TWC - loads of ratings thriyggh the week and we've dropped 45 or so places -and the stars that were on our Moscow page last week have disappeared all together. Either there are gremlins out there or some folk have been ultra-ultra busy. leyle

I'm not sure it's a mistake. I saw lots of people going the opposite way, moving up a lot of rankings all of a sudden.
There was a similar thing a couple of weeks ago and apparently it's a new calculating system. Now they are taking into account the GOOD ratings, not the NUMBER of ratings you receive. It also takes action against the "friends-rating".
At least that's what I was told, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sure we'll all survive - but it's still puzzling, especially when you see really good stuff going backwards -and I'm still puzzled about those entirely missing ratings.

Not just one page either -like lots of others writing here, there are a stack of TWC pages that have lost al their ratings.

I would be so nice if we could see what our ratings were as they come through rather than waiting to see how the tip ends up being rated over a period of time... whilst I can see how that could be open to abuse, it would so add to the excitement of VT and there must be a way round that. For all I know the reason i've moved down this week is cos suddenly, after a general trend up, I've had a lot of bad ratings. It could be as much that as someone doing better...

This is a help and tech forum for members to help each other. if you want staff to answer you write to feedback@virtualtourist.com. However they are aware of this issue, so I wouldn't mention this particular problem as they are busy dealing to it.
