Perugia what to do in perugia at all
Posted: Sun July 24, 2005 07:54 PM UTC
i've been living and studying in perugia for almost 1 month so far, i like this little city but sometimes i do feel quite bored since when i was at my country i loved going out with my friends, there was so much to do, like eating out, visiting different places, especially going shopping! but the shops close so early here and i always can't figure out why the shops don't open on sundays, i also thought of going to discoteca or something, but my friends said they really suck here, so i wonder if anyone could please tell me if there's anything worth seeing or visiting in perugia, or ANY GOOD SHOPS(for clothing pr accessories)!!!that would be great helpful since i still have to stay at this little place for another 6 months, thanks a lot!!!

I have been on a day trip to Perugia and I loved the small town on the hill. But you are right, it is not the place I would expect night-life activities. Also the (over-)consumption fever has not affected rural Italy to the extent it did in Britain, US etc. But if you are looking to buy s.th. specific, local Italians will certainly know of a good shop (closed on Sundays, which is not necessarily a bad thing). The country around Perugia is very scenic and not short of good restaurants, so you may want to do some excursions. Trains and buses are cheap. Ideal also for cycling and hiking. Have you checked with the local tourist office for guided tours which is a good way of meeting people? Have you thought of sports activities?

I think what you might need is some local contact to show you around the best places. The idea of "fun" I guess varies from place to place. Maybe Perugia isn't the most happening place, but it should pick up in September when the new school season starts. I assume you are doing a language course there? What do your classmates do for fun? Also, you might want to consider advertising for language exchange with some locals, and then from there make more friends who could tell you where the best places are to go to get clothes, etc.

Its very easy to sit at home and complain about how everything sucks - It sounds like you are willing and open to check out the scenes so get some new friends!!

There are plenty of little hot spots around the Lago Trasimeno.

There probably aren't many places where people are willing to entertain you so that just means you go out and make your own good time.

I have some friends that are the same way - they expect to go out and sit and do nothing and complain about how boring it is and how everyone is lame ect. but in fact the only boring thing are them sitting there waiting for some action instead of creating it themselves.
