Going to Prague

Hi everyone!

We, husband, 6 yr old son and I, are heading to Prague soon. Any information regarding inexpensive apartments to rent for a few nights and good restaurants would be appreciated. Thanks!

I should recommend Archa restaurant. It is quite near the Betlehem Chapel. See the tip on my Prague page. I began writing something about that beautiful place!

Don't forget to take your son to the zoo! An easy journey by public transport, there have been great improvements since the flooding.

There is a self-service restaurant in Havelska , off Karlova, near Wenceslas Square, calles Ceska Kuchyne, good food, large portions, reasonable prices. Take a trip on No.3 or 17 tram, get off at Modrany Skola, there is a restaurant nearby called Pod Vinici, quite small, good food, excellent friendly service with reasonable prices.

I could recommend apartments at The Residence Belehradska 35.
http://www.b35.cz
We have stayed there for 5 nights and found it lovely (and cheap). It's not in the very center, but 3 tram stops from it. The tram stops right across the building, there is also a night route #56. Big supermarket nearby (3 min walk), so you can buy food there and fix your own meal at the apartment. Big plus.
For the restaurants, try Czeck web site with reviews and menues.

You can choose something that you'd like and get some idea about prices. The exchange rate was 25Kc per US$. The food is cheap in Prague.

We just returned from Prague and stayed at the Vlasska Apartments in Mala Strana. They are wonderful, within walking distance of everything (including Castle, Charles Bridge, and Old Town), but close to trams and Metro, too. Much, much quieter than Old Town. See http://www.hotelsprague.cz/index_e_pr.htm

The website has a great description of the surrounding streets, too.
