I always stay at relatively nice hotels when i go filming with the TV crew in Shanghai, but this time Im there for two nights with my boyfriend and thought I would check out The Captain Hostel on Fuzhou Road..hads anyone been there recently but not written a write up about it, because I havent been able to find anything yet..I just thought that it may be nice to stay somewhere cheap and cheerful!!!

Any comments would be welcome!!!

Thankyou!

Yes, the Captain Hostel is the cheapest place for this location at the bund. Very clean with all facilities needed (like washing machine....). The building is of colonial times at the end of Fuzhou Lu on the corner to the bund. Inside it is renovated, but not much colonial style left. Dorms are kept in a marine style (popeye the sailor man;-)
You can check out their webaddress on my shanghai page accomodation tips). They say you get 20 or something off if you book it by internet. But I never tried. The last time, this January, I only went for dorm and prices were raised a little bit to 60 Kuai.

If you are looking for the real colonial style go for the oldest and first hotel of Shanghai, the Astor House or Pujiang on Huangpu Lu (on the end/beginning of the bund where you can find the monument). It is more expensive than the Captain Hostel but quite cheap for the pure and rich style. (US Pres Grant, Charly Chaplin, Russell and all the stars and wannebes stayed there;-)

Ah, yes, my fault: .cn!
Well, because you want to stay with your boyfriend I thought you would need a different room than dorm;-)
But I remember that they mixed dorms(boys n girls) in 2003, too.
