I will be traveling to the Tortola in mid August. Are there many jellyfish in the waters there? When is the high season for jellyfish? Thanks.

I've heard tell the main jellyfish season is March-June, but I've snorkeled & dived in that time period in the Caribbean & not encountered any. I did get a couple of tiny sea lice stings once in February near St. Thomas (sea lice are larval jellyfish), but only once.
Ask the locals when you get there to be sure, but I wouldn't worry overly much about it in August. Also consider emailing a dive shop on Tortola to ask them.

There are a few jellyfish in the water at the moment, as it is so hot, but luckily not that many, I only saw 2 when I went snorkelling last. The best thing is to swim away from them or around them. If you start to panick you fidget and bring them closer.
