Kaunas Travel Forum

I'm thinking of coming to Kaunas for a few days in the middle of December. Is this a good time of year to visit the city? Are there any special events on? Can someone give me an idea of what Kaunas will be like at that time of year.

Probably will be starting to get pretty cold but still bearable there. I was there this past April so unfortunately don't know about the special events through the winter time.

Hard to say about the weather, but it usually is about 0 Celsius. Last few years temperatures were around +5.
It's too cold for any open air festivals or something like that. But there are always concerts, theatres and clubs have their shows. Sacred thing for locals-basketball season:))) Just as every city before christmas-preparations for the holiday.
Anyways, it's not a dead season. Everyone can find something to see or to do

Not too many festivals are taking place in winter. Maybe Pizza Jazz restaurant will come up with some ideas (they usually have ice sculptures, etc), but hard to say if it will be in December. If you can, wait till spring, it's much better. There's this huge Kaunas Jazz festival, and Kaunas birthday celebration. Although sometimes in the old town we have some concerts in the open air in December, but you can never be sure about it.
