San Juan del Sur Travel Forum

Does anyone have any advice on the easiest way to get from Manual Antonio Costa Rica to San Juan Del Sur Nicaragua? I will be a single female traveling alone and want to do it safely. Also does anyone have any comments about the safety of the beaches in the south western part of Nicaragua? Any advice would be appreciated!!!

I think you can go from Quepos to Puntarenas, and from there, take a bus to Liberia. Than take a bus to the border. There take a bus to Rivas, and then to San Juan Del Sur. You can also go back to San José, and take a tica bus, if you feel safer with that company (www.ticabus.com), but local transport is safe enough. At the border, you can also chose to take a cab, normally it is even easy to find people who will share a cab (20 dollars more or less from the border to San Juan Del Sur). If it is to complicated, but you want to do it by local transportation, you should get back to San Jose also. There is a direct bus untill the border (close to coca cola bus station, but in the street).
Transport and San Juan del Sur is very safe, only problem can be some local drunks...
