As an older lady setting out a little bit scared,could someone please tell me about getting from the airport to the train station.I understand there is a bus if so what is the fare? Do I pay on the bus and how long does it take? Any help gratefully received!!!

pls let us know which train station you want to go to, as monterosso has its own station and you ask about bus fare

Once you'll be at Genoa airport you can catch the bus (Volabus, #100) to rail station Brignole, the costs is 3 euro here you have the timetable
http://www.airport.genova.it/eng/bustrenotaxi.php as you see it's a circuit, there are different rail station in Genoa, beware you have to go to rail station named "Principe", it takes about 30 minutes from airport to bus-stop "Stazione FS Principe", then a little walk to the station. (about 50 meters) From THIS station you get most of the train to Monterosso al mare. in http://www.trenitalia.it/en/index.html you can choose the train from Genoa (PP) to Monterosso, timetable and, if you want, to buy yor ticket. By train you'll be at Monterosso al mare from Genoa. Pls note, when you choose your train (in the site), write "Monterosso" only in "Going to?" box. have a nice stay in one of the best and more romantic place of Italy. ciao -)
