Murano Venice to Murano

What is the best (only?) way to go to Murano from Venice (public transport, not organized tours)?
Until what time of day does such transportation operate?
How much does it cost?

Thanks.

There are frequent, cheap vaporetti ("water buses") from near the Piazza San Marco. For best value, get a pass for however many days you'll be staying.

But Murano is a bit of a tourist trap: much more attractive, and also served by vaporetti, is the island of Burano.

Thanks for the quick replies.

From what I understand, the unique thing about Murano is the glass art and industry - the workshops with glass-blowing and the glass museum. This is what would interest me (I have no intention of buying anything, but will probably wind up doing so anyways :))

OTOH, what does Burano have to offer, other than the lace?

It is 'just' a very nice and VERY colourful village/island. Not so overcrowded as Murana and Venice itself. Look at tips about Burano (or otherwise and can mail you some pictures)

Don't worry, you won't be able to avoid Murano glassware in Venice itself!
