RE: Business English / Cross Cultural Communications Teacher seeks work Posted: Tue June 28, 2005 01:29 PM UTC
Most teachers of English/business in Mexico won't earn much money, and many find that what they earn isn't enough to support the lifestyle they want to live. There are, however, some university positions that pay better and have benefits (approx. $25,000/yr) but you have to look long and hard for these.
There are likely to be several small companies that provide language training services to the business community in SLP, but the hours are likely to be 10-15 of work each week and the pay is likely to be in the US$10/hr range.
My own experience with that line of work in Mexico has been that you're unlikely to find work until after you arrive at your destination. Few employers will take your interest seriously until you've relocated and are standing in front of them. Personal appearance plays a big part in who gets a job and who doesn't.
A good job search resource is the Mexico message board at www.eslcafe.com, you might want to have a read over there and even post your question - you're likely to get more responses there than here.
Best of luck!
