Wiesbaden Travel Forum

I am planning a trip to Wiesbaden...in October....also want to see Berlin, and hop over to Austria....my main focus is on WW2 Aviation and such.....hope to visit the Eagles nest...any Ideas would be apreciated...Barry in Louisiana

Why Wiesbaden, then? Go to Munich or Salzburg, from there Berchtesgaden ("Eagles nest") is easily accessed, Austrian borde is right there too. Than you can go to Berlin, either direct or with detour to Wiesbaden. Depends how many days you have in germany.

Concerning aviation, Munich is a good idea either.. there are WW2 planes on display in Deutsches Museum, and in Oberschleissheim there is the "Flugwerft", a formaer airplane factory which is a museum now.

For the most interesting displays on WW2 avation you have to look elsewhere. The few planes which survived in Germany had been mostly brought abroad.

~ 1,5 hours south of Wiesbaden there is the Technik Museum in Speyer and Sinsheim.

In Berlin there is the Deutsches Technik Museum Berlin with a just recently opened new building on avitation.

In Munich there is the Flugwerft Schleißheim, a branch of the Deutsches Museum Munich (a very large technical museum).

As you probably land in Frankfurt, it would work out well... but it takes quite a while to get around...
