Cuernavaca Travel Forum

Hi there,

I am interested in planning day trips from Cuernavaca. I want to avoid tours and take buses instead. Can anyone recommend a good day trip and then let me know which baus to take and from where?

Some places worth going to are Taxco, which is a crazy silver town in the mountains. As well there are some caves nearby which are very impressive. Las Grutas de...??? I don't remember the exact name. But if you say las grutas it should be enough. Obviously there is Mexico City and Teotihucan nearby as well. Teopotzlan was a nice trip with a temple on top of a cliff, this can be reached by a farily steep hour long hike.

I also agree with a day in Taxco. It is a hilly, cobblestone town with a lot of silver shops- but it is worth seeing even if you aren't interested in buying silver. It is an easy and fairly short bus ride from Cuernavaca. I have ridden so many buses in Mexico that I cannot remember which one took me to Taxco. I actually have a couple of photos of Taxco on my pages (though I have just started working on the Mexico pages- so there really isn't a whole lot of information.
