I going on 2 weeks holiday on April 18th 2006. Staying at the refurbished Sunset Jamaica Grand in Ocho Rios. My son is getting married there. I think it re-opens about June 2005. If anyone has been there I would like any worthwhile information, ie; food and accomodation, service etc.

Hello
Got married there in 2001. It was the most fantastic day. The staff fell over themselves to do what ever they could to make it special.
My friend was there 3 weeks ago and she came to our wedding and she said that its even better now. The wedding coordinator's are so helpful they will make the day run really smooth.
Couple of hints
get married as late in the day as poss. We got married at 4pm because it was so hot.
They let you pick a resturant to have a wedding meal in. The Italian has a lovely little outside patio. They set us up there and decorated the table with flower petals and candles.
The girls in the hairdressers are amasing they can do anything with your hair. Mine was quite short at the time and they still managed to pile it up on my head!!!!
There is an option to book a calipso band to play at the wedding. My parents did this as a wedding present for us and it made the day!! They played the bridal march and then played while we had champagne and cut the cake. We gave them some extra money and they stayed for about 6 hours and played alsorts.
The photographer was bossy but the pictures were fab.

We are going back next year to renew our vows so could you drop0 me a line when you get back so I know what its like.
Hope this helps
LOU

I stayed here back in 1987, I was going to revisit last year, but heard it was being refurbished. I had a great time here, it used to have 7 restaurants, about 12 bars, a small casino, and its on a fantastic beach! So if its better than when I stayed...you'll have a fantastic time!

Enjoy!

I am leaving Friday, Nov 17 for 8 days. This will be my 7th visit to Jamaica. Stayed in Negril once and the other 6 times at the (now named) Sunset Jamaica Grande. I've seen this resort change names 4 times. The staff is totally accomodating and there's enough to do and see to keep you occupied the whole time.
