| Lago di Como | Visiting Lecco Posted: Thu June 23, 2005 05:47 PM UTC
Hi,
We are planning to visit Lecco in early August as part of our Milan-Venice trip. We have heard Lecco is sort of industrial town with little old part. But we are looking for Alps. Can we have an Alpine vista in Lecco? The place appears tempting since it is just half an hour from Bergamo. |

Lecco is fairly dull, you would be better advised taking a train from Lecco to Varenna which is the most beautiful village on Lago di Como (in my opinion). The train will take around 30 mins from Lecco. You can purchase a through ticket from Bergamo for around 6 euros. All train journeys can be found on the website
www.trenitalia.it From Varenna you can take a 20 minute ferry ride to Belaggio or Menaggio, bigger and more tourist type resorts. Both places are beautiful with great mountains bordering them, and at that time of year the weather is subperb. Trust me, it well worth the extra miles.
