I notice that Eugene gets much more rain than Sacramento. Do you get much fog? Is the rain stormy rain, or is it usually overcast and steady rain?
Thank you!

I live in Corvallis, north of Eugene, and the rain here is usually steady and wet and over cast but of course anyting is possible in the valley here so stormy does happen. We get the fog here because we are right on the river and wet lands and I would imagine the same in Eugene since they are on the river as well. It is not foggy for days and weeks..often in the morning and gone by the afternoon and usually only in the winters. The summers are hot and dry (usually).

Well, considering I live in London, England, I do get a great deal of rain throughout the year, normally in the form of drizzle, although heavy storms are not at all uncommon. I do not know Sacramento though, so I would not be able to tell whether I get more. As for the fog, never mind those dated Sherlock Holmes films… It is never that bad, really.

I don't think Eugene gets the kind of deadly valley fog you get in Sacramento. And it does rain more in Eugene and it's a helluva lot more green in general. Fewer scorching hot days in Eugene as well. You can actually live without air conditioning.

What brings people to Eugene: Summers are great, some rain, lots of green, can get very dry some years. What drives them away: Winter as in constant rain, usually in the form of a damp mist, as was said, fog in the mornings and evenings, overcast skys. Black ice on the roads, some people can't take it, get depressed and leave. Other than that, its a great place to live. Devon
