Hi, can any one recommend a good 4* hotel near the centre of Amsterdam. Quiet but close to main attractions?

We stayed at Die Port Van Cleve Hotel, 4* hotel, just off Dam Square. It was a great hotel, within walking distance of the main attractions, but just off the main tourist routes. Might be what you are looking for!

I have stayed at both the Barbazon Palace which is across the street from Centraal Station and I also have stayed at the Radison SAS which is on Rushland St near the Univerisity. They were both really good, if I had to choose between the two I would suggest the Radison.
