Not Silly at all!
Although there are various concerts and fireworks throughout the city, the main show (8:30 pm) and fireworks (10:30 pm) are in Old Montreal (See description below). There is also a parade during the day (11 am). You can understand that with the sponsorship scandal, the parade may be a bit smaller this year as it is hard to find sponsors. A few of us will be going to both. Feel free to join us if you'd like! [and anyone else reading this post :) ]

Event Details
Canada Day Celebrations: Quebec/Canadian artists perform, followed by the Canada Day fireworks at 10:30 (in the past, always launched over the St. Lawrence just across the river from the Port)
The Célafête evening, on July 1 at 8:30 p.m., on the Main Stage at Jacques-Cartier Pier - For fans of alternative, rock and pop music, a spectacular show featuring five famous performers. James Bryan, the well-known guitarist, producer and singer/songwriter and co-creator of the Philosopher Kings, and Prozzak, will play a selection of songs from his album Beautiful World, in an eclectic electric blend of musical styles, including rock, soul and World Beat. Following him on stage will be the velvety-voiced Jérôme-Philippe (DiSoul from Dubmatique), who will introduce the crowd to the musical universe of his debut eponymous album of franco-pop, brimming with the urban musical influences of afro-soul, funk, hip-hop and ragga.
Luce Dufault, who needs no introduction, will add a feminine touch to the celebrations and please her fans with songs from Bleu, her most recent album. Worth noting is the presence of Ontario singer and songwriter Sarah Harmer, a rising star on the alternative-pop scene. Sarah won a Juno in 2005 in the Adult Alternative Album of the Year category for her album All of Our Names.
To close out the evening, a big star will be on hand. Accompanied by her full band, singer/guitarist virtuoso Jesse Cook will captivate the audience with the enthralling mood of her flamenco frescoes enhanced by Andalusian overtones. We only have to think of her most recent album entitled Jesse Cook - Montréal, recorded in concert at last year's Montreal International Jazz Festival. It is pure energy!
