If you plan to visit Romania at the end of July, Sighisoara - the best preserved medieval fortress in Europe, will wait for tourists come in.

hey, Do you know how much it costs for camping and do they have basic facilities like showers etc? I have never been there and am excited to be going..I hear that every year the festival is getting more crowded, but that it is still great to see. I am an American journalist living in Suceava. I will be coming with three Romanian friends. Is camping a safe option? I hope so because we want to cut costs. I will be documenting the whole thing for writing purposes, but so many situations in Romania are unexpected. Is the food good at the restaurant? And was Vlad really born there? Do tell.... katherine

Hello Kat! The Sighisoara festival is an authentic experience, great to see. There is a Tourist Information Center functioning over the period of festival. The guys are very kind and they provide information about where is safe to camping to companies or to a long list of private person from Sighisoara (if you want to cut costs). If was Vlad really born there? Hummm! Only his own mother will really knows - and that person it is not only dead but it is also away from town;-) The food is great to Casa Wagner or Sighisoara Restaurant inside the old citadel (see the last picture from here http://www.visit-transylvania.eu/wheretogo/sighisoara/sighisoara.htm).
