Stockholm Card?
Posted: Wed June 22, 2005 04:21 AM UTC
Do any of you have experience with the Stockholm Card (http://www.stockholmtown.com/templates/stockholmscard____9989.aspx)?
Would you recommend it?
Thanks.

If you know you will run around in lots of museums it's good. Otherwise, public transport etc. can be solved in other ways such as buying a three-day card or so.

I actually heard some bad things about it, like you feel kind of stressed to hurry around to see as much as you can in one day. Check out the museums you are intersted in, many in Stockholm these days are free, so depending on where you want to go, you may not need the card...

Hi!

The Stockholm Card is SEK 260 for 1 day, 390 for 2 days, or 540 for 3 days. In our experience, these type of cards are only worthwhile if you want to do a LOT of sightseeing in fee-charging attractions in a short space of time. Also, I notice that some of the main museums are free now (including the National Museum and the Historical Museum), except for special exhibitions. So it might not be very good value for money at all.

However, I would recommend the SL public transport cards. These are valid for the entire public transport network and cost SEK 95 for 1 day, and SEK 180 for 3 days. They are also valid on the Djurgården historic tram route and the Djurgården ferries, which you don't get with the Stockholm Card. The 3-day card also gets you 50% off entry to Skansen and free entry to the TV Tower and the Gröna Lund amusement park.

Have a great trip.
