Help!
We are planning to pass through Hamar, arrive 2110 and then catch a flight from Oslo at 07:15 to meet cousins in Stavanger. We booked hotel in Hamar because my grandmother was born there (then moved to Oslo). We just wanted to drive around, then leave early in the morning. I misread the bus schedule and now see that it stops in Hamar only to allow disembarkation. Does anyone have idea of how to best see the town (taxi?, anyone know a local guide?) and how to get to airport on a Sunday morning? Should we go back to Mjosbrua Vest for the bus or is there any shuttle service all the way to the airport. We are 3 so splitting the cost will help. Thank you, Susan aka stenben |

Hmm.. difficult. On a normal weekday you could take the train from Hamar to the airport - but don't think they run that early on a Sunday. Can't really find a good solution - I would contact the tourist office there. They should know hamar-turistkontor@hoa.no
Hamar is walkable - but I suggest going to Domkirkeodden with the ruins of Hamar Cathedral, medieval museum and an open air museum with old buildings from the area. Domkirkeodden is also a popular recration area with a small beach by the lake. But from 21:00 until early next morning doesn't leave much time for anything.

Thanks for your reply. My sister and I spent a day in Hammar 3 years and walked everywhere. I'd love to spend more time this visit, but we just made contact with long lost cousins and had to change things around to make it to Stavanger with enough time for a visit there. Hoping to make it all work. I couldn't find the Hamar visitors bureau online, so thanks a lot for that lead.

Just checked the railway timetable. It's true, trains do not run that early on Sundays. If I were you, I'c call the bus operator Nor-Way Bussekspress at +47 81544444 and explain the situation. I know the timetanle says disembarkation only, but...I'm sure they would be able to make an exception for you, esp. since it is the only way to get to OSL airport that early on a Sunday morning.
