Hi m an Indian travelling this week to UK for a short holiday.
I want to attend the England vs Autralia one day cricket match scheduled for 28th June. For the same what should be the best (most economical as well as the fastest) way of getting to Birmingham from Coventry and back?

Train probably.........www.nationalrail.co uk for train timetables, www.thetrainline.com for fares & ticket purchase. Coach will be cheaper, might take a bit longer and be less frequent: www.gobycoach.com. Remember, both will takeyou into the centre of Birmingham, so you need to think about your onward travel to Edgebaston (I assume).

Trains here are pricey, I think the bus would be cheaper - try this website for prices:

Birmingham and Coventry are both in the West Midlands, and so are covered by the same cheap local transport system. The cheapest way (but not the quickest) way of getting between the two cities is by bus. As a rough estimate it takes about 30 minutes to get from the center of Birmingham to the center of Coventry. I can't remember the prices as I've not taken one for many years, but the absolute most you will pay should be 1.10 pounds each direction. If you are going to be doing the trip regularly there are week-tickets that can save you a lot of money, for example the Adult Regional Off Peak Travelcard covers you for a week of off-peak (9:30am - 3:30pm and from 6:00pm onwards) travel all over the West Midlands region for only 6.30 pounds.

Trains are a lot quicker, and station to station it takes about 10 minutes, but you pay for it.

The train costs about £3.70 return from coventry to Birmingham New Street. Make sure you get the Virgin train, this is quicker and takes around 20 minutes, the central train stops at all the little stations along the way and takes over 30 mins.
