Hello guys,

I'll be in Aberdeen for a week late August - early September. Need an expert advice on what to see in the city and countryside.

I want also to do a bit of shopping for cloths and shoes. I've been to the UK (London) before and found prices there too high. Is it the same with Aberdeen?

As I'll be going on training in Vienna later, would it be better to leave shopping for Vienna, Austria to buy good quality cloths and shoes at a more reasonable price?

Hi Miahri,

Aberdeen has loads of castles in the vicinity - still functioning ones like Castle Fraser or ruined ones like Dunottar. A bit further afield, but still easilly accessible are distilleries plus lots more castles.

In the city there are several shopping centres, but nothing particularly unique about any of them. You will find all the high-street shops you will get anywhere else in the UK, plus a few independent boutique shops. Maybe worth having a look around Belmonty Street and The Academy shopping centre for some more eclectic stuff.

Hi there Aberdeen has a lot to offer but you might want to consider car hire as most interesting places are off the beaten track - but the scenery is awesome.
Shopping would not be a problem if you stick to the High Street Stores - many bargaings can be had at the end of summer in the Bon Accord Center, St. Nicholas Center & Union Street Vienna will be a lot more expensive

Hi Miahri,

I have a couple of tips for Aberdeen restaurants on my travel pages - I will try and stick some more on over the next few days.

The good thing about Aberdeen is that it is awash with restaurants although not all good quality or value.

You won't go hungry for lack of choice though.

Could you please advise me of a cheeper way of making a castles tour in aberdeen? Are the castles nearby, those that could be seen over a weekend, reachable by public transport? how much it would cost? and how much is the entrance fee?

Look forward also to your advice on where to eat.

I heard that aberdeen is as expensive as london. Is that true?
