| Oxford | More parking questions - decisions decisions Posted: Wed June 15, 2005 07:43 PM UTC
We have booked a rental car and will be travelling from Heathrow on a Monday to Stratford Upon Avon and plan to have a few hours in Oxford on the way. Car parking looks a real problem in the city and Park and Ride seems the way to go BUT:-
(A) Should we park on the East side of town say at Thornhill which would be the closest in the morning when we get there? OR (B) Should we park on the North West side of town say Pear Tree or Seacourt so it is easier to get away in the afternoon? Advice please |

pear tree sounds best to me,
its quite close to the centre, and its next to the A34 that takes you up to the M40 and stratford

It's easier to find the park and rides (very efficient bus service btw)than supermarkets. Pear Tree is the most convenient by far for the M40, but I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference unless you're planning to leave during the rush hour (from about 4.30). If you choose another p&r, don't try to negotiate Oxford itself on your way out......it's not worth it.......use the ring road.

Thanks everyone, looks like it is Pear Tree :-) We will try and get away before the rush hour.
