Kuta Nightlife and Prices
Posted: Tue June 14, 2005 08:24 PM UTC
Staying at the Santika Beach hotel for 7 nights

Hear that the nightlife in Kuta is hectic, where are the main areas to go?
Can anyone recommend any GOOD pubs / bars and restaurants?

How expensive is it can anyone give me a rough idea of drinks prices, I will have arrived via hong kong and bangkok so any comparison would be good.
kindest regards
Paula

This might be late but juz in case, Kuta have a very hectic nightlife, lotsa things to do and go, and surprisingly, they have sort of like a pattern thing in spending the night. Hulu Bar for instance have drag shows that starts past 11PM, then you may head for the Dyana Lane or street, forgot the exact name, and all of the bars and stuff are there, and you may end up in DOUBLE SIX (the palce to be!) past 2AM til the sun goes up!

hi there.
if you stay in legian you can walk to mbargo, paddy's & bounty ship. but the best of those three still mbargo for us. they dont cost for foreign tourists to get in and you can have drinks there.. tequila is about 5us$/shot and jungle juice is about 4us$/bloof.
there are places of the beach in kuta, the wave, hard rock and kama sutra. those are nice places but there are more local people there. but they are great places to be, they cost about 6us$/drink. centerstage in hardrock hotel is pretty cool too when it's ladies night.
dyana pura street is not bad either.
there are great places around seminyak. de javu, 66 and paparazzi. paparazzi would be the best place for us to suggest in kuta. 66 just has the crowd after the other clubs are done about 3am or 4 am.
the best restaurants will be them at seminyak and oberoi. rumours in oberoi has good prices, great place and cozy atmosphere. hu'u, kudeta and maccaroni are the classy places and they have interesting events pretty often.
if you just look for cheap prices you can explore to poppies lanes by walking there. warung 96, warung bagus and brazil bali are our favorites.
there are a free mag called the beat you can get in cafes, restaurants & circle ks there you can see which places has the events and the maps too.
feel free to ask anything, have fun in bali!

Hi,

You'd love the nitelife in Bali ..thay have a bit of everything for everybody. Even a gaybar..in a muslim country pretty outrageous. Just shows the special atmosphere and status of Bali.
IMO even the pickupbars are pretty girl friendly to non bargirls.
My favourite niteout starts after dinner at the HRH bar. they mostly have a good liveband playing here. Very relaxed atmosphere and it's free. Drinks though is expensive. Around 10pm it ends and then the nightlife really starts.
You have all kinds of places to choose...HRC is pretty nice. Ladies night or student night is nice. This place is for the local tourists or just the locals.
Pretty expensive though.
Other nice spots is paddies and bounty area. Paddies is more of a pickupjoint, while Bounties is more like a regular discos. Plenty of young people here.
Jalan Dyana Pura is teh barstreet of Seminyak. All kinds of bars here. pretty cool.
Early in teh morning you can move out towards club 66/double six. In this area there are also some other discos.
IMO Double six have a great reputation..but best is only during saturday or if they have special events.

Have fun...

Something to add....I hate going home at night from double six. These guys truly try to cheat you..they have like a monopoly on transport. Normal taxis arent allowed. They dare to demand 100K for a ride that normally takes 10k.

You could always bargain...or just walk till the end of the street and try and catch a cab there.
