Bingen am Rhein How's the N H Hotel?
Posted: Sat June 11, 2005 05:19 PM UTC
We're going to be staying at the NH Hotel on Sunday night, 19 June. The reservation has been made for us so we can meet up with my father and his band, and we can spend the evening with them.

Will we be happy? What should we expect?

Any idea how close this is to the Loreley (Lorelei?) concert venue?

Anything we should know?

Thanks!
Jessica

You find the Loreley in St. Goarshausen and this is about 30 km. from Bingen. I think you can even go there over the river Rhine by boat. Hope you have a pleasant trip.
Greetings.

Hi Jessica,
havenīt been in the NH hotel, but it looks ok from the outside. Modern architecture and it is locatet directly at the river rhine, so guess youīll have a nice view.
For informations about Bingen have a look at www.bingen.de, and www.ruedesheim.de. There are two cablecars at the other side of the rhine, one in Assmannshausen, one in Ruedesheim. You can make a roundtrip taking one of them up the, have a look at the monument, the eagle show, the little hunting castel (nice restaurant), nice walk!
You have to take a rhine cruise, but only with the "Goethe". Itīs beautifull, an old steam ship from 1913, which was sunken and rebuild. It is in Bingen every day at 4.30 pm. Check www.k-d.com the rivercruises timetable. There are two ferrys going from Bingen to Ruedesheim, a big one for cars and an smaller one for people, operating every half hour. Thatīs a river cruise for people with less time!
If you want to make a castle sightseeing, have a look at "Burg Rheinstein" in Trechtingshausen, only a few km from Bingen (daily 9.30am till 5.30pm). Or "Burg Sooneck" in Niederheimbach, (next behind Trechtinghausen) (10am-6pm, without mondays), my favorite!
Is your father playing at the Jazzfestival in Bingen? Thatīs a lot of fun, been there verry often. If you can arange to stay a bit longer, there is the famous Rhine in Flames fireworks in Bingen, on 02.July.

Have a lot of fun

Cleomedes, thank you. That's a lot of wonderful information!

My father's playing at the Lorelei "3 days of peace and love," festival. I think that's the name, at least.

My husband and I arrive in Germany (FRA) on 18 June and my father's band plays at the festival on 19 June. This is actually all a coincidence, but it's a fabulous coincidence, don't you think? My father's band has made reservations at the NH Hotel, and made a reservation for 2 rooms for my father, so we can have a room the night they stay there.

Thanks again!
Jessica

I know the answer now that I've stayed there! Okay rates (80 Euro/night for two people) and a good breakfast. HIDEOUS interior design tho -- OMG! Some examples in a tip I wrote on the hotel. One of the members of my dad's band is an artist and he told dad he was offended. LOL

Hi! Oh, the NH Hotel in Bingen was interesting, that's for sure. Wow, the decor? Yikes! But the room was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and breakfast was yummy and filling.

We were only in Bingen from around 8:30p until the next morning when we checked out for breakfast. We headed directly to my father's concert at St. Goar (Loreley) from the Netherlands... after the gig, we drove to the hotel, got some beer, went to bed, etc..
