Firstly you won't be able to stay a solid 5 months, you will need a double entry tourist visa which will give you 60 days, then you have to leave the country and re-enter for another 60 days, that gives you 4 months, then go out again and come in on a normal 30 day entry, you need to contact a Thai Embassy or Consulate in your home country first, I very very much doubt though that you would want to spend 5 months in the one place as Samet does not have much to do, though there is plenty of cheap accommodation, try a search on yahoo for budget places or you could look on Beachsiam and although they no doubt have budget places I guess you would be looking for something long term. Maybe you could book somewhere cheap for a few days and that gives you the chance to look around. good luck
