Hi, I need to go to Santiago, Chile from Salta, Argentina, and was thinking of stopping over in San Pedro de Atacama for a few days. How many days is sufficient to stay there?

It depends on what are you looking for. The place is really wonderfull and there is a lot to do there.
Check the website www.sanpedrochile.com for information, it is in Spanish but is a great website.

I WAS THERE LAST WEEK. FROM SALTA YOU HAVE TWO BUSES. PULLMAN HAS A VERY GOOD SERVICE, THE OTHER ONE I DO NOT KNOW. YOU CAN TAKE 3 OR 4 EXCURSIONS AND NEED FOR EVERY ONE A DAY. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK A HOTEL OVER THE INTERNET. PEOPLE ARE NOT HONEST AND TRY TO CHEAT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE TATIO HOTEL AND THE TRAVEL AGENCY COSMO ANDINO. I HAD WITH BOTH A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. YOU CHOULD FIND A VERY GOOD HOTEL FOR 40 US DOLARES.
