Hello,

Does anyone know how we can get from Tikal/Flores to Chetumal, Mexico? Are there buses? How is the border crossing?

We are currently travelling thru Mex, Belize and currently in Gaut, so hopefully this will help.

You might be able to purchase a package trip that will bring you from Cheutumal to Tikal as it is a very popular destination. Depending on where you are at the moment (In Mexico or not?) it shouldn´t be too hard, but there are two bus stations in Chetumal so you just have to make sure you go to the right one.

Crossing the border should be relatively painless. Get off the bus, go thru Mexican emigration, get your passport stamped, and then dependent on distance, get back on the bus, or walk (with your baggage) to Gautemalan immigration. Tehre is a fee to get into Guat off about 10Q (there will be money changers rushing onto your bus at the border) and you will have to fill in a form and you will need that to get out of the country. Make sure they get you to fill out that form, cos otherwise you will have to bribe officials on the way out when you dont have it. i think they do it on purpose.

Whatever you do, stay in Flores to be better able to arrange your onward trip. I think there is a shuttle to Chetumal, but you need to check around for details when you are in town.
