Gansu Sheng From Tianshui to Xiahe and beyond

It departs early in the morning, around 06:30, and takes about 10 hours to reach Xiahe, plus 3 additional hours if you want to continue on to Linxia and visit Labrang monastery. I would guess the current price is between 40-50 RMB.

You won't find Labrang monestary at LinXia. It's in XiaHe a few hours from LinXia. I recommend train to Lanzhou and then the "public" bus from Lanzhou to XiaHe. It passes through LinXia and is 6 to 6 1/2 hours depending on whether the driver decides to stop for a p**. If he doesn't stop, you had better skip drinking any liquids for breakfast or you will suffer. It happened to me once. The road is rough. On the return trip, the public bus (leaves from the city bus station but it is a private business) driver wants to make as much money as possible so as soon as it starts getting dark, he may stop for extra riders along the highway and pack them in. Fold down seats in the aisles and even wooden stools placed in the aisles. You could be asked to let someone stand in front of you if all the seats are full. Amazing but true. Try to get in on a tour guide bus. Ask around at the tourist agencies in Lanzhou. Tour guide busses do not pick up anyone along the highway and will stop for a break half way.
