I live not far from Charleroi and oh no, this is really not the place where you want to spend 3 days! For an afternoon it might be ok, but still... Charleroi is an industrial, black city and has not much for sightseeing, there's quite a high criminal rate as well. Have a look at my Charleroi pages for more info.
If you want to spend 3 days in Belgium, you can go to either Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent or Bruges, or a combination of 2 cities. Brussels is reachable in 1 hour from Charleroi airport. From Brussels, you can catch a train to almost anywhere else in the country, distances are pretty low.

Have fun!

Thank you so much for that. We will be flying in late to Charleroi so i thought just trying to get into Brussels would be hard late at night. Wat type of travel would be good for that time of night. I know the bus goes into Brussels. But i'm still confused.

I guess you're taking the Dublin-Charleroi flight? Even if it's late, the last bus waits until the arrival of the last plane, so if you want to get into Brussels, no problem. This might actually be the only way to do so. Catching a train might be difficult, cause you first have to catch a cab to the Charleroi railway station. And a direct cab to Brussels costs about 90 euro, so not very cheap.
In Brussels, you'll arrive at the Midi Station. From there on, it's quite easy to get to the center of Brussels.

Another option is staying the night in Charleroi and leave for Brussels the next morning.
