RE: best beaches Posted: Wed June 1, 2005 01:30 PM UTC
This time of year, the northern beaches (from Bahia de Caraquez and north) are the best. South of there it will be too cold to swim, and sweater weather at night. It also will be cloudy. Though I've been to almost every southern beach, I've only been to Atacames in the north, and I have to say it is a nice beach with a party-like atmosphere - very crowded. If you are looking for something a bit more quiet, go south from Atacames. It also might be hard to control a group of high school students in Atacames, but I don't want to make any judgements! There will definately be a lot for them to do there. There are countless hotels, but for a group, you will want to book early. Go on reputation - our first hotel in Atacames was full of rats! The second was fine. This was years ago, so not only do I not remember names, I can't even assume either is still there.
Good luck!
