I will be working in Panyu but would like to live in Hong Kong. Does anyone have any info on the commute. Ferry service?, Train? Even by car?

A bit too far.
No train from Panyu, only bus or but to ferry. Car...if you have the "special" BLACK plates you can cross back forth but I do not have details. After recently taking a trip to Hong Kong from Panyu, I would say that a 2 1/2 hour commute would be a bit much. Customs, etc. Why live in Hong Kong if you can take advantage of better prices in the Mainland and go to Hong Kong whenever you like?
