| Laguna Huacachina | Hostel contacts in lago Huacachina by Ica Posted: Sat May 21, 2005 08:19 PM UTC
Hi, I will be visiting Ica and hoping to spend the night in a hostel in lago Huacachina - does anyone have any hostel contacts or ideas on how & when to reserve one night this July 2005? I'd appreciate any help, thank-you!

Be aware that the second half of july and till mid August (aprox) the childern are on mid-year holidays and the last days of July are national holidays there, all this means lots of people leaving the city and booking any hotel within driving distance from Lima.
I was once in Huacachina, a day excursion from Paracas, nice place but nothing special really. Paracas is a nicer place to spend a couple of days, plenty of tours to the islands and the beaches inside the national park. The days around the national holidays are a real nightmare for tourists, everything is booked and plane/bus seats are hard to come by. Good luck !

Hi,
I just left Huacachina yesterday. I stayed at the Casa de Arena. It was a bit of the party hostel. Others are Huacachinerno and Hostal Suiza. There are a few others as well but I donīt remember the names. Reservastions werenīt a problem while I was there but I donīt know if that will change come July. Huacachina is tiny so all the taxi drivers no where everything is. You will as well after a 15 minute walk around town (all of town). It is a great place to sit by the pool and relax. The dune buggy tour is also great if you are a thrill seeker. Otherwise, Huacachina doesnīt have much to offer. Rick
